How to Choose a Duct Cleaning Company (and Avoid the $99 Bait-and-Switch)

Five questions that separate a real source-removal clean from a truck-mount operator who just wants in the door.
Not all duct cleaning is the same. The gap between a thorough, NADCA-aligned clean and a five-minute blow-through is enormous — but both can advertise "air duct cleaning." Here are five questions that tell you who you're really dealing with.
1. Do you do true source removal?
The right answer involves negative-air pressure (HEPA extraction) plus agitation of each line. "We blow it out with compressed air" is not the same thing.
2. Will I see before-and-after photos?
A company confident in its work documents it. If they can't show you what came out, be cautious.
3. Is the quote upfront and complete?
Beware the $99 special. National franchises and low-cost truck-mount operators often advertise a number that balloons once they're inside. Insist on a clear, written price first.
4. Are you licensed and insured?
You're letting someone into your home and HVAC system. Licensing and insurance aren't optional.
5. Will you tell me if I don't need it?
The most trustworthy answer a company can give is sometimes "not yet." HVAC companies that exist to upsell rarely say that. We do — regularly.
